Revitalization
Downtown Revitalization Update
The Downtown Project: Next Steps is progressing well. We have completed the Streetscape design work.
The Committee will be preparing the Community Improvement Plan for Council to adopt and presenting a Capital Study to identify how much each of the projects will cost.
The last piece of the current project will be the completion of the Town Branding and Way Finding system. We will be creating new signs to direct people to Downtown Grimsby with a new network of signs from the QEW and Highway 8.
We expect to finish the proposal by the end of November and we will place the design on our website for comment.
Finally, as part of our plans for next year and beyond, the Committee has approved and en-dorsed our Retail Assessment and Action Plan. We would encourage everyone to take a look on our website to see what we have planned.
The DRSC meets on the second Thursday of every month and anyone interested in participating can contact Leigh Jankiv at our office, info(at)grimsbydia.com or 905-945-1155
The Downtown Project
The Downtown Project is a joint partnership of the Grimsby DIA, the Town of Grimsby, the Region of Niagara and the Chamber of Commerce.
We are mandated with overseeing the comprehensive revitalization strategy outlined in our Blueprint for Action released last year.
This past July, we were excited to receive a grant from the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs under the Rural Economic Development program. Combined with contribuitions from our partners, this represents an investment of $230,000 for renewal and revitalization of our downtown.
This plan will include a community improvement plan, a streetscape design, a wayfinding system, gateway features, a capital improvement strategy, a town branding program, and a retail assessment.
The success of this project depends on the participation and support of our community.
If you are interested in participating, contribuiting or commenting on our plans, please visit our website to learn how, www.friendlybynature.ca
